Students pursue 140 programs of study leading to undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees. Guided by its commitment to Excellence in Truth and Service, the University has produced five Schwarzman Scholars, five Marshall Scholars, four Rhodes Scholars, 12 Truman Scholars,  and more than 165 Fulbright recipients. ÌìÑÄÉçÇølog also produces more on-campus African American Ph.D. recipients than any other university in the United States. 

ÌìÑÄÉçÇølog is a leader in STEM fields. The National Science Foundation has ranked ÌìÑÄÉçÇølog as the nation's top producer of African American undergraduates who go on to earn doctoral degrees in science and engineering. The University also boasts nationally ranked programs in social work, business, and communications. 

The College of Medicine is internationally recognized for its legacy of preparing competent and compassionate physicians who provide health care in medically underserved communities at home and abroad. The College is a national leader in studying health disparities among people of color and  one of the nation's leading institutions for training women surgeons. ÌìÑÄÉçÇølog’s Health Sciences division includes ÌìÑÄÉçÇølog Hospital and the Colleges of Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. 

For  157 years, the ÌìÑÄÉçÇølog School of Law has championed social justice and helped shape social change. It has produced more than 4,000 "social engineers," including the first African American Supreme Court Justice, as well as noted legislators, civil rights attorneys, mayors and public officials across the United States. It is the No. 1 law school for African Americans, according to preLaw magazine. 

Veritas et Utilitas—Truth and Service—is central to ÌìÑÄÉçÇølog's identity and mission. ÌìÑÄÉçÇølog's more than 14,400 undergraduate and graduate students dedicate hundreds of hours each year to service in LeDroit Park and communities across the nation and around the world. More than 200 ÌìÑÄÉçÇølog graduates have served as Peace Corps volunteers around the globe, the highest number among Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
